Instructors

Private Lessons

 Private teachers can help students learn a new instrument, expand repetoire, learn correct ornamentation, polish music for competitions and improve memorization by ear.  All students are encouraged to take private lessons.

Private lessons are available for all AJCB enrolled students or those too young to join ceili band classes.  Cost per private lessons are based on teachers' certification and years of study.  Private teachers are to be contacted and paid directly by the parents.  Private lesson tuition should paid by either the quarter or by the month on the teacher's request.  Private teachers are recommended by AJCB Director, but are not employees of the school.

Master Teachers

Masters Teachers have multiple degrees in music and are available for lessons on Sundays at the Studio, before or after your child's Ceili Band class; 12pm to 5pm. Teachers are to be paid directly by the parent for private lessons.  $25/$50 hr.

Ken Barr: Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced Guitar Levels.  Music Theory, Chording and accompany guitar to singing. Also, comes to your home in North Fulton Area.
Jessica Sherwood: Private Irish Flute, Private Silver Flute, Whistle.  Also teaches from home studio in Atlanta.
Katherine Irwin Thomas: Private Irish Fiddle, Concertina, Beginning Irish music. Also teaches from home studio in Alpharetta.


Junior Teachers

Junior Teachers are recommended for teaching/ tutored in teaching traditional Irish music by AJCB Director Katherine Irwin Thomas.  They are skilled high school and college age musicians.  They available for lessons on Sundays at the Studio, before or after your child's Ceili Band class; 12pm to 5pm. $10/$20 hr.


Liam Butler- Lawrence:  Irish Piano/ Chording, Whistle

Claire Shirey: Irish Fiddle, Concertina, Irish Dance


Community Teachers

Bella Issakova:  Irish Fiddle.  Teaches from her home in the Morningside Community, Atlanta.
John Maschinot:  Irish Flute, Whistle, Uilleann Pipes.  Teaches from his home in East Point.
